Kreyssler Hall
Historic name: W. A. McHenry House
Built: 1903
Architect: C. W. Buchanan
Builder: Crowell and Seward
A generous bequest on the part of Anna May and Henry Kreyssler in 1960 made possible the purchase of the building that bears their name. This imposing craftsman house, built in the Tudor Revival style, was the first to be constructed on Ford Place. Larger in scale than later residences, the building still exhibits the same elegant craftsmanship of its neighbors. The lines of the original design remain, even though the structure has been altered by the addition of a lean-to, fire escape, and porch and balcony enclosures. Vestiges of a tree-lined entrance and formal garden in the rear are visible. Built for W. J. Pierce, the house is more commonly linked with W. A. McHenry, a land dealer, banker, farmer, and breeder of pure-bred cattle.
Erected by Fuller Theological Seminary.
