Cambridge in Dorchester County, Maryland — The American Northeast (Mid-Atlantic)
Goldsborough Stable
Shoal Creek Manor
| | In Memory of Perry North. | |
Charles Goldsborough, Governor of Maryland in 1819, lived in a manor house across Shoal Creek, just behind our property. The house was demolished in the early 1970s, and this brick stable is all that remains of the plantation. Goldsborough reportedly enjoyed racehorses, which he may have kept in this stable along with their saddles and harnesses. Displayed inside are horse-drawn vehicles and tools associated with the blacksmith, saddle-making, wheelwright, and wagon-building trades.
