Die 1512 eröffnete Nikolaischule war die erste städtische Bürgerschule in Leipzig. Zu den berühmtesten Schülern gehören Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, Christian Thomasius, Johann Gottfried Seume und Richard Wagner. Die Aula der Schule ist in der spätklassizistischen Fassung aus Wagners Zeit erhalten, der hier von 1828 bis 1830 die Schule besuchte. Im Untergeschoss befindet sich die Dauerausstellung „Der junge Wagner 1813 bis 1834“.

Opened in 1512, St. Nicholas's School was the first municipal secondary school in Leipzig. Amongst its most famous pupils are Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, Christian Thomasius, Johann Gottfried Seume and Richard Wagner. The school auditorium has been preserved in its late classical setting from the time of Wagner, who attended school here from 1828 to 1830. The permanent exhibition „Der junge Wagner 1813 bis 1834“ is located in the building's basement.
