Oudeschild, De Houtmanstraat
Op deze plaats stortte in de avond van 23 november 1943 een bommenwerper neer van het type Lancaster met registratie JA932 MG-M. Er waren 7 bemanningsleden. Alle bemanningsleden kwamen hierbij om het leven.
Missie:
De Lancaster van het 7e Pathfinder squadron, was opgestegen vanaf de basis Oakington in Cambridgeshire (N), voor een aanval op Berlijn (D). De 'Slag om Berlijn' was enkele dagen daarvoor, op 18 november 1943, begonnen. Tijdens de terugvlucht werd de Lancaster neergeschoten door een Duitse nachtjager en stortte neer. Bij deze aanval waren 383 vliegtuigen betrokken waarvan er 20 niet terugkeerden. In Berlijn kwamen die nacht 1.400 tot 1.500 mensen om het leven.

One hundred and sixty-seven young men have found their final resting place at the war cemetery on Kogerstraat in Den Burg. Almost all of them were crew members of Allied bombers and fighter aircraft shot down on or near Texel during the Second World War. Monuments made of glacial erratic boulders have been placed at nine crash sites across the island.
Oudeschild, De Houtmanstraat
On the evening of 23 November 1943, a Lancaster bomber (registration JA932 MG-M) crashed at this location. There were seven crew members on board; all of them lost their lives in the crash.
Mission:
The Lancaster from the 7th Pathfinder Squadron had taken off from Oakington base in Cambridgeshire for an attack on Berlin. The 'Battle of Berlin' had begun a few days earlier, on 18 November 1943. During the return flight, the Lancaster was shot down by a German night fighter and crashed. A total of 383 aircraft took part in the raid, 20 of which failed to return. Between 1,400 and 1,500 people lost their lives in Berlin that night.
