1. Historic Freemon Family Home Marker

Inscription.
William (Nub) Freemon (1894) and his wife Pinkie (1892) were residents of Grady and they lived in this home and raised their family until their deaths in 1964 and 1968. William and Pinkie were successful farmers and landowners. William built this home in 1925 with the help of his sons and other family members. They owned over 100 acres of land on which they raised livestock and poultry. The family grew many staple crops such as corn, sugar cane, and cotton, as well as many other vegetables, which contributed to the family livelihood. Together William and Pinkie were blessed with eleven wonderful children: Sam William (Ned), Sadie, Vera, Lawyer, Rosa (Pat), Cumi, Renford, Ruth, Leon, Travis, and Nellie B. After their deaths, the children divided the land and kept the home as a reminder to the Freemon Family. The home is being restored and will serve as a gathering place for future generations. Listed in the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage on June 28, 2019
