Bingham Canyon in Copperton in Salt Lake County, Utah — The American Mountains (Southwest)
Bingham High School
Copperton Utah 1931-1975
Built in Copperton, Utah during the Depression at a cost of $350,000, ($4.6 million-2016), this Art Deco style building became the hub of education and social life for students southwest of the Jordan River in Salt Lake County, Utah.
Following the 1976 construction of the new BHS in South Jordan, Utah, Copperton's school became a junior high for the next 20 years. In 1996 it was deemed unsafe and closed. It was demolished in 2002.
In 2016 the BHS Class of 1961 organized the "Let's Never Forget The Copperton Bingham High School" fund raising effort to create this monument dedicated to the school. Through the generous donations of BHS alumni Sons and Daughters the monument was built, using the school's original brick and its column capstones, in loving memory of our "Learning Home In The Oquirrh Mountains."
