Inscription.
Lyle Headon as a teenager worked for Earl & Marion at the Lang Grocery store before joining the Marines Corp. After being honorably discharged in Sept. 1968, Lyle, while attending NIU went back to work for the Lang's. Earl passed away in December of 1969 and Lyle ran the meat department while going to night school. Several people wanted to purchase the store, but in 1970, Mrs. Lang decided to sell to Mr. and Mrs. Headon. This immediately became a family business with everyone participating in its success. For over the next 51 years the Headon name was recognized throughout Northern Illinois as a place to get high quality meat, brats, and smoked items at a fair price. In early 2021, Mr. Lyle Headon decided to retire, and the business was purchased by Mark Hibshman and his son Justin Hibshman. The original processes, recipes, high quality meats and hometown friendly services are still being honored in the same fashion as Lyle envisioned in 1970.
