Im Konzertsaal des ehemaligen Hotels fanden die ersten öffentlichen Streichquartettabende des 1808 gegründeten Gewandhaus-Quartetts statt - heute ältestes Streichquartettensemble der Welt. 1796 nächtigte hier Mozarts Witwe Constanze. Im Gepäck führte sie die Partitur des Requiems ihres verstorbenen Mannes für die Leipziger Erstaufführung mit sich.

English:
The first performances of the Gewandhaus Quartet, founded in 1808 and now the oldest string quartet in the world, took place in the concert hall of this former hotel. In 1796, Mozart's widow Constanze spent the night here. She brought in her luggage the score of her dead husband's Requiem for its Leipzig premier performance.
