In der Katharinenstraße 4 stand bis zur Zerstörung am 4. Dezember 1943 das Griechenhaus, Jahrhunderte Treffpunkt der Kaufleute, Gelehrten und Studenten vom Balkan und Mittelpunkt der griechischen Gemeinde zum Hl. Georg in Leipzig. Hier fanden um das Jahr 1700 die ersten griechisch-orthodoxen Gottesdienste in Deutschland statt.

English Translation:
At Katharinenstraße 4 stood the Greek House until its destruction on December 4, 1943. For centuries it was a meeting place for merchants, scholars, and students from the Balkans and the center of the Greek congregation of St. George in Leipzig. Around the year 1700, the first Greek Orthodox church services in Germany were held here.
