1. Ballou High School Marker

Inscription. Ballou opened in 1960, the second high school east of the Anacostia River, serving Congress Heights, Bellevue, and Washington Heights. Ironically, while it primarily serves the neighborhood's growing Black population, it was named for a white opponent of integration.
