"The Barn, along with the Rudolph Family Gardens by Massey Hall, was one of the few original structures that remained on the campus when the first classes began after the college purchased Pine Hill Manor, a 230-acre summer estate, in 1963 from Oliver Kaufmann, a philanthropist and executive of the Pittsburgh department store."

(Captions):

This Colonial Barn was the center of campus life from 1963 to 1986. It served as the Student Activities Building and home of the Colonial Theatre

President Sewall commissioned the Alumni Commons Gazebo to honor the special location where every Robert Morris student from the Moon Campus has made a memory.

President Dell'Omo commissioned a new steel structure to replace the original brick Gazebo in 2012. This area, the gateway between the residential and academic communities, remains an important place for all RMU Students.

President Patrick established the RMU Groundhog Day tradition in 2023. The RMU community celebrates the beginning of spring by gathering at the gazebo at dawn to see whether Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow.
