Inscription. In 1872 the Southern California Colony Association deeded the lot at 575 Vine Street to Riverside's first church, the Congregational Church, which conveyed it to the First Christian Church (Church of Christ) in 1887. The parsonage, built for Rev. H.D. Connell in 1889, with a pyramidal hip roof, is one of the most intact Folk Vernacular houses of its age and style in Riverside. It was relocated to this site in 1993.

The structure is historically significant as the Parsonage for the first church in the City of Riverside. The First Christian Church Parsonage is architecturally significant as one of the most intact structures of its age and style in the City of Riverside. The style is identified as the pyramidal family of National folk houses (Mc Alester 100-101). Several examples exist in Riverside which have been altered in varying degrees. The First Christian Church Parsonage retains a considerable amount of its architectural integrity on both the interior and exterior.
