English Translation:
The world's oldest music publisher, Breitkopf & Härtel, founded in 1719, had its first headquarters in the house known as the "Golden Bear" from 1732 to 1867. The founder of the publishing house, Bernhard Christoph Breitkopf (1695–1777), purchased the inn "Golden Bear" across the street at Universitätsstraße 11 in 1732. In 1943, the building fell victim to an air raid. His son, Johann Gottlob Immanuel Breitkopf (1719–1794), built the house "To the Silver Bear" on this site in 1765. It was demolished in 1895.
