Inscription.  
A crucial debate between Martin Luther and Johannes Eck concerning religious practices and the authority of the Church, took place in the predecessor building of the New Town Hall from 27 June to 15 July 1519. The disputation was of fundamental importance for the subsequent course of the Reformation.

German Translation:
Dieser bedeutende Disput zwischen Martin Luther und Johannes Eck über religiöse Praktiken und die Autorität der Kirche fand vom 27. Juni bis zum 15. Juli 1519 im Vorgängerbau des Neuen Rathauses statt. Die Disputation war von grundlegender Bedeutung für den weiteren Verlauf der Reformation.
