1. Steam Engine Marker

Inscription.
The steam engine drove the pump that emptied the dry dock at the Collingwood Shipyards. The pump was able to empty a dry dock in about three hours and was the largest pump in Ontario, with 38-inch diameter suction. It was installed in the pump house in 1903, when the dry docks were lengthened. The engine was fueled by two coal-fired boilers and the coal was brought in by ship. Later, the pump was run with compressed air.
