More about this marker. Next to the Slovak Memorial Chapel in this cemetery, about 40 yards from this marker, is another bell with a marker that says the parish had two bells it used until 1974. Presumably (although not outright stated) this is the parish's second bell.
Regarding Sts. Cyril and Methodius Parish Bell. This cemetery is affiliated with a parish of the same
name that was located on Landau Avenue in Joliet, about a mile east of here. That parish opened in 1900 to serve the area's Slovak immigrants, and closed in 2007.
