Tehuacana in Limestone County, Texas — The American South (West South Central)
Bell Tower
This replica bell tower is a replacement for the original tower which adorned Texas Hall. Trinity University in the 1880s added the mansard roof and tower to the original 1869 building. Approximately 100 years later the tower was removed while in need of repair.
The Westminster College Ex-Student Association was formed and began raising funds for a new tower. Others became involved. And Friends was added to the association name. Two of the presidents who played a significant role, Jim Meridith and David McCartney, were instrumental in seeing this project fulfilled.
The Westminster Ex-Students and Friends and all who have an appreciation of Texas history, hope to see the bell tower crowning this magnificent and architecturally significant Second Empire French style building.
Erected 2022.
