John Grosse House
Built: 1905
Architect: Unknown
Builder: Peter Hall
The John Grosse House combines elements of the Dutch Colonial Revival and Shingle styles of architecture. More sedate than its exuberant neighbors, the house is remarkable for both its simplicity and solidity. Drawing on Eastern architecture, distinctly Western features include a foundation and chimney laid with Arroyo stone. Delicate interior details reinforce the gracefulness of the exterior and include a tripartite window, triple-cluster windows, and bands of windows.
The building has been a home to the Visiting Nurses Association, the Pasadena Community Chest, and the Pasadena Playhouse Association. It now houses Academic Services.
Erected by Fuller Theological Seminary.
