Mt. Airy Granite
The white patch, dimly visible in the distance, is the Mt. Airy Granite Quarry, largest of its type in the United States. From it came the piece of granite below typically feldspar and quartz with a sprinkling of black biotite mica. This granite is widely used in construction of mausoleums, statues, buildings and bridges.
