Regarding Lisle VFW Ross Bishop Post #5696. This memorial commemorates the end of the Lisle VFW post's time as an independent entity. In November 2025, it folded into Judd Kendall Post #3873, based in Naperville.
The Lisle post's namesake, Ross Bishop, was born in Chicago in 1919 and was living with his family in Lisle in 1940. Ross was married with a son when he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944. He served in the 3rd Battalion Headquarters Company, 382nd Infantry Regiment. He was killed in action in Japan on June 26, 1945.
