Established in 1904 through the efforts of W.E. and Callie Hawkins, Reverend Southalland, and others, Prosperity Baptist Church was built on land purchased from Fordyce Lumber Company and later deeded to the church in 1908. R.D. Dedman is recognized as the only known charter member. Holding weekly services since its founding, the church also functions as a community center and voting precinct for Dallas County, standing as the oldest remaining structure in the Ramsey Community.
