A Lasting Legacy
The National Historica Preservation Act created SHPOs in every state and territory to champion the cause of historical preservation. The Idaho SHPOs professional staff of archeologists, architectural historians, and GIS specialists work to protect Idahos irreplaceable historic properties. The SHPO collects and maintains data on historic properties to assist public entities with planning, and gives local voice to federal actions in the state. The office also manages the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) and provides gratns and technical assistance to community and county preservation efforts.
Today, the Idaho State Historical Society stewards this property for preservation and public enjoyment.
