About Yarn with Ernie
Ernie Childs was well known in Great Yarmouth. He liked and promoted the town at every opportunity. uniting the themes of maritime, arts, tourism and history. Dressed in Fisherman's smock and cop and leaning on a herring barrel, packed with herring, he holds a paint brush in one hand while gesturing with the other as if in debate.
About the Artist
Mark grew up in East Anglia and studied at art schools in Great Yarmouth and Manchester. He is now based in the Suffolk market town of Bungay.
Mark's work aims to make sculptures that are specific to a site and weave a narrative. The aim is to engage. visitors and have the local population accept the sculpture as part of the town's heritage. He prefers sculpture at a human, interactive scale rather than colossal. His sculpture practice includes wood, stone and bronze.
