1. "The Washingtonian Mural" Marker
Inscription.
The original Mural was painted by the late muralist, Alex Matterson in 1989, to honor native Washingtonians Marvin Gaye, Denyce Graves, Roberta Flack, Davey Yarborough and Duke Ellington School of Arts.

In 2018 Jerome Johnson both restored and enhanced this cultural landmark mural of New York Avenue's Ivy City neighborhood. Special thanks to a grant given to Sign of the Times Cultural Workshop and Gallery by the DC Commission on the Art and Humanities and a donation by U-Store Self-Storage Company as well as in-kind support from Home Depot & Benjamin Moore.
