1. Reconstructed Cabin Marker

Inscription. The reconstructed cabin is the starting point for the half-mile Quarter Place Trail. It is representative of the types of dwellings that were present along the Quarter Place that the enslaved and later free black population lived in throughout the late 18th to mid 20th centuries. At the time of his death in 1799, Patrick Henry owned 67 enslaved persons which means that there would have been at least 12 cabins similar to this one along the Quarter Place.

As we continue to research Quarter Place, we hope to use this cabin as an exhibit space to share the research conducted and display excavated artifacts.
