1. Jeepers Creepers Marker
Margaret Piatt remembers her 1950s childhood at Mac-A-Cheek, when she and her brother, William played on the garden rocks, then covered with Trumpet Creepers. The kids called the plants "Virginia Creepers" and sang the popular jazz song, "Jeepers Creepers." The plant, also called the Trumpet Vine, will climb up to 40 feet. Its bright tubular blooms attract hummingbirds. Reproduction is by seeds, root sprouts, or stems that touch the ground. In the 1950s "Flower Language," the bloom signified separation or fame.
