United States Congressman, State Comptroller, Lieutenant Governor, first Roman Catholic governor, famed journalist, orator and statesman who helped establish the Irish Free State and the only resident of the City of Albany to serve as Governor of New York State

Erected 1998 by American Irish Legislators Society of New York State and the Honorable Gerald D. Jennings Mayor, City of Albany.

upon the conviction of William Sulzer, and while the outcome of the impeachment remained in dispute, both men claimed to be governor. During his term, the statewide direct primary law was enacted, a worker’s compensation bill was authorized, and taxes decreased."
