Inscription. Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). Quakers have been meeting together for worship in Rutland since 1671. Robert Hawley gave the land for the construction of this Meeting House ξn 1719. William Tompson left property at Somerby to the society and funds from this legacy helped to pay the £166 building costs.
