1. Simon Orchard- First Settler of Paisley Marker

Inscription. In April 1851, Simon Orchard and family beached their raft near this point. Motivated by a dream he experienced during a brief residence in Walkerton, he and his family descended the Saugeen River. Captivated by the sight of two rivers joining, they decided to settle at this point. They erected a shelter and became Paisley's first white settlers.

Erected 1967 by Paisley Centennial Committee.
