1. Fisher Mill Property Marker

Inscription. The mill property was developed by D. Hanna, in the 1850'S. He built a dam, mill race one saw mill on the south side of the river. In 1869, D. Fisher bought the property and operated a flour and saw mill. The central rectangle of the present mill was constructed in 1875. For nearly a century, the mill housed various flour and feed businesses. Two operable, 50 inch water driven Barber turbines remain in place. The saw-mill building, at the north end of the dam, still houses the C.H. Waterous & Co. Patent Pony Saw Mill. The current cement dam constructed in the 1930S, replaced the wooden dam built by Fisher. The mill property, representing early commercial and industrial development, is an important part of Paisley's heritage.
