Robert Lee "Sam"(Submitted on August 9, 2026, by Bradley Owen of Morgantown, West Virginia.)Huff is one of the most well-known and recognized athletes to ever play at West Virginia University (WVU). A four-year letter winner and three-year starter during the mid-1950's, he helped lead WVU to a combined four-year mark of 31-7 and a berth in the 1954 Sugar Bowl. The Mountaineers were also able to defeat Penn State three years in a row while Huff wore the Gold and Blue. In 1982, Huff became just the second WVU player to be inducted into the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame and later in 1999, he was inducted into the National High School Hall of Fame. He was ranked No. 76 on The Sporting News' list of the 100 Greatest Football Players. On Nov. 24, 2005, Huff's uniform No. 75 was the first football number retired by West Virginia University.
