Inscription. “‘The sun never sets on a Morris pump.’ That’s how the saying goes in Baldwinsville. Morris Machine Works was the biggest industry in our town. I heard a story when I was a girl that the owner went to Egypt and he was traveling on the Nile. And the boatman asked him where he was from, and he said New York. And the boatman said, ‘Is that anywhere near Baldwinsville?’ And he took the owner to the pump that was on the boat on the Nile River, and it was made at Morris Machine Works in Baldwinsville. For well over a hundred years it was a mainstay here in town.”

History of Morris Pump

1864: Founded as Heald, Sisco & Co. on the south side of the Seneca River.

1870: A major fire destroyed the original factory buildings.

1875: William F. Morris took over, leading to the name Morris Machine Works on East Genesee Street.

1981: Purchased by Goulds Pumps.

1996: The Morris pump line was acquired by Yeomans Chicago Corporation.
