Inscription. Built in 1908, Royal Bank expanded after WW1 when it acquired various small English banks including this Williams Deacon's branch in 1930 and then Glyn, Mills & Co. in 1930; these two were merged in 1970 but not rebranded as Royal Bank of Scotland until 1985.
