The adjacent mural was completed by Scott Lindley, Michael Clark, and Doug Haffner, Walldog artists, on August 20, 2016. It was made possible by the hard work and dedication of the CORE of McLean committee and volunteers from the community, generous donations from local sponsors, and participants of the annual Get Your 6.6 on Route 66.

The mural commemorates Wesley "Shorty" Ruble (1924-2008), a beloved McLean barber for more than 50 years. This building housed the last of his locations, which also included the old bank (diagonally opposite) and the Dixie. A recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart during World War II, Shorty is fondly remembered in the community.

Brought to you by the CORE of McLean (Community Organization for Revitalization and Expansion) Board Members: Amy West, Katie Funk, Jenny Rudat, Darlena Krueger, Tom Ludlam, Hannah Adams, and Kristen Bernas
