Seven panels of the work titled La Deliverance (reproduction), scuplted by Pierre Roche
Inscription.
The seven panels on this building are enlarged reproductions of the work titled La Deliverance, which was sculpted by Pierre Roche in the 18th century and is on display at the Musee D'Art et D'Industrie in Robaix, France.
Considered his masterpiece, the original sculpture served as the altarpiece for a small church in northern France until the beginning of World War II. Made of solid bronze with a lead frame, each original panel measures nineteen inches square and depicts one of the seven deadly sins. The seven panels surround a central plaster bust of a woman with closed eyes and mouth whose hands are cut at the wrist and stuck to her ears.
Each panel on this building was sculpted by hand using the same lost wax casting method employed by Roche. Each is solid bronze, measures forty-eight inches square, and weighs 350 pounds.
