In deze buurt (wijk) zijn de straten (en drie bruggen) vernoemd naar verzetsstrijders uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog (1940-1945). Op jonge leeftijd hebben zij veel moed getoond en met gevaar voor eigen leven gestreden voor Vaderland en Vrijheid. Veel van hen hebben dat met de dood moeten. bekopen. Van de 25 vernoemde verzetsstrijders hebben er slechts 7 de oorlog overleefd. Mede door hun dappere strijd, kunnen wij nu in vrijheid leven!

In this neighborhood, the streets (and three bridges) are named after resistance fighters from the Second World War (19401945). At a young age, they displayed great courage and, risking their own lives, fought for their country and for freedom. Many of them paid the ultimate price. Of the 25 resistance fighters honored in this way, only seven survived the war. It is partly thanks to their brave struggle that we can now live in freedom!

As noted by Nationaal Comitι 4 en 5 mei (in translation), The resistance monument in Amsterdam consists of a polyester sculpture group. Three resistance fighters are leaning against a wall. A circular terrazzo column encircled by a stainless-steel ring stands in front of the sculpture group
. On the column is a simple inscription, Ter Nagedachtenis aan de Verzetstriders 1940-1945 (In memory of the Resistance Fighters 1940-1945).
