More about this marker. The marker was placed in Rotary Park near the abutments for the Goffstown covered railroad bridge on August 16, 2016 by the Goffstown Historical Society. The marker commemorates the bridge lost to arson 40 years previously on that day.

Regarding B&M Railroad Covered Bridge. The Goffstown Covered Railroad bridge was erected in 1901 by Boston and Maine Railroad ("B&M" on the historical marker). The bridge carried railroad tracks across the Piscataquog River next to Main Street in Goffstown, NH. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. On August 16, 1976, the bridge was lost to arson.

Covered Bridge Rotary Park The first bridge on this site was built around 1850 by the New Hampshire Central Railroad. In 1895, the line came under control of the Boston and Maine Railroad, who built a replacement bridge in 1901. The bridge was destroyed by a deliberately set fire on August 16, 1976.
