1. Granary Marker

Inscription. This granary is the oldest outbuilding on the farm. Corn was stored here at harvest time, after it had been cut, dried, and shucked, and was used during the winter months to provide food for both people and livestock. Cornmeal was a staple food.

Notice that the corn crib is sided with narrow, diagonally attached boards with spaces between them to provide ventilation.
