1. Freedom & Independence Marker
This mural project was led and commissioned by the Clarksburg History Museum as part of the West Virginia Mural Trail for America 250, an initiative of the West Virginia Department of Tourism for Americas Semiquincentennial, with concept and design by West Virginia artist Amber Penland.
The Clarksburg History Museum is an independent 501c3 nonprofit organization, with First Fridays as its programming branch and visitCKB as its heritage tourism initiative.
This project was made possible through the support of the Harrison County Commission, which approved the mural grant application in March of 2026, and through a generous partnership with the James & Law Company. It was installed by museum staff and volunteers.
