1. Walter and Thelma Mays House Marker
This land was located adjacent to the original town of Frisco, laid out by the Blackland Townsite Company in 1902. Ownership changed several times before the one-story, bungalow-style home was built about 1920. Walter Dodson Dot and Thelma Kerley Mays purchased the home in 1932 for $1,200. Some of the homes original architectural features include a recessed front porch, large windows, doors with glass knobs and brass latches, high ceilings, wide baseboards, pine floors, and built-in storage cabinets in the dining room. Thelma made and fired ceramics in an outbuilding that is still on the property. Dot kept dairy cows in a field located just west of the current Frisco Student Opportunity Center. He milked them morning and night and delivered milk to many Frisco residents. Dot worked for the Texas and Pacific Railway for 41 years, 32 of which he spent commuting to Dallas. He still made time to serve as a city councilman and FISD school board member. Faithful church members, Dot served as a deacon in his church while Thelma played the organ and sang in the choir.
