1. Rogers House Marker
One of Friscos most admired early residents, its first doctor and first mayor, Dr. I. S. Rogers, built this home after purchasing Lots 5 and 6 in Block 61 of the original town from the Blackland Townsite Company on February 7, 1902. Dr. Rogers, who had been practicing in the nearby town of Little Elm, built this home at a cost of $1,300 and moved to the new town of Emmerson (later Frisco) that was established along the San FranciscoSt. Louis rail line in Collin County. The family moved into it on March 18, 1902. Architecturally considered Folk Victorian style, the home had two stories, shingled gable ends, and a recessed front porch with bead board ceiling. It was later renovated to include a wraparound porch with a decorative ceiling border and post corbels. After falling into disrepair for several decades it underwent a major renovation in 2021 during which the original stair bannister and some interior doors were preserved. Original shiplap was used for accent walls in various rooms. Unique rectangular windows high on each gable set this home apart as did the life and service of Dr. I. S. Rogers.
