1. First Trolley In West Orange Marker

Inscription.
The first electric trolley of the Newark Passenger Railway reached Tory Corner on February 1, 1892. The line was subsequently extended to Eagle Rock Avenue on June 19, 1892. It was eventually taken over by Public Service Trolleys using the route designation of #21. It ran for 59 years before service was discontinued on March 1, 1951 and replaced by buses. New Jersey Transit which now operates the bus lines uses the same route number as the trolleys that once passed this location.
