The spinning turtles are dedicated to the Maryland Zoo in memory of our beloved son, Justin—a smart, gentle, and caring soul who warmed the hearts of everyone he met.

Born in Rockaway Beach, Queens, NY, Justin was the light of our lives. A gifted learner, talented athlete, and natural leader, he excelled in all he pursued. He graduated as valedictorian of his high school class in 2013, reflecting his exceptional intellect and drive. Following his dream of becoming a Navy SEAL, Justin was accepted into the U.S. Naval Academy as a midshipman in the Class of 2017. Even there, amongst other exceptionally talented young men, he stood out.

Justin had a rare gift for time management, balancing academics, athletics, friendships, and personal growth with grace and determination. A passionate reader with a love for learning, he made time each day to enrich his mind and soul. Through his unwavering commitment to excellence, Justin ranked in the top 10% of his class. He led by example, embodying integrity, kindness, and perseverance. His presence inspired joy, laughter, and the best in those around him.
