Stuart J. Beebe
Mr. Baseball
In recognition of the legacy of Stuart J. Beebe, a long-time devoted resident of Corsicana since the 1940s. Mr. Beebe, known as Mr. Baseball of Corsicana, is credited with organizing youth baseball for Corsicana in the 1950s, and remained active in the program for nearly a half a century.
He labored countless hours maintaining the ball park, tending to the sheep which grazed the fields, managing office duties, scheduling games, and working the public-address sound system during the youth games. He was even seen crouched behind the home plate serving as an umpire. Mr. Beebe was also known to have passed the tin bucket at games raising extra funds for the kids. Mr. Beebe passed away at the age of 85.
