1. Barn & Shed / Tenant House Marker
Barn & Shed
These 2 structures were donated along with the farmhouse, and were on the property with it. They are from a later period records indicate around 1930. The barn has a large open loft, with a door for large access. The lower area contains a room for grain as well as stalls for livestock. One side of the barn features 3 large openings, for equipment to enter. Under the eave above doors, one can see a dovecote (for birds). The original color of the barn was dark red. The shed is crudely built, using tree trunks for corner posts. This housed small farm animals sheep, pigs, and possibly chickens.
Tenant House
This small structure dates from the 1940s. It was common in the early part of the last century for larger landowners to have tenant farmers to work their soil and to live on the property. This small building has just the basics 2 rooms one for storing, preparing and eating food, the other for resting and sleeping. This house had a set of folding doors to close off one room from the other. It also had a small front porch or overhang for some relief from the weather. There was no indoor plumbing
