1. Dienststellen von Gestapo und SS / Gestapo and SS Offices Marker

In der Mehrzahl der Wohn- und Geschäftshäuser entlang der Wilhelmstraße (98–107) befanden sich seit Mitte der 1930er Jahre Dienststellen der Geheimen Staatspolizei und der SS. An mehreren Häusern wurden Umbauten geplant oder vorgenommen. Die Wilhelmstraße 98 war Anfang 1936 für einige Monate auch Sitz der „Inspektion der Konzentrationslager“.

1936/37 gab es Pläne, anstelle der Gebäude Wilhelmstraße 98–101 und des benachbarten ehemaligen Hotels Prinz Albrecht einen monumentalen Neubau für die Gestapo zu errichten. Sie wurden jedoch nicht verwirklicht. Stattdessen breiteten sich die Dienststellen von Gestapo und SS allmählich im Stadtgebiet aus.

Die Gebäude Wilhelmstraße 98–101 wurden im Zweiten Weltkrieg stark zerstört. Die Abräumung der Grundstücke erfolgte bis Anfang der 1960er Jahre.

Erhalten sind bis heute Reste des Außenmauerwerks der Gebäude.

the mid-1930s on, the majority of residential and commercial buildings on Wilhelmstraße (98–107) housed offices of the Secret State Police and SS. Several of the buildings underwent remodeling or such measures were planned. For several months in early 1936, Wilhelmstraße 98 also served as headquarters for the Inspectorate of Concentration Camps.

In 1936–37 there were plans to replace the buildings at Wilhelmstraße 98–101 and the neighboring former Hotel Prinz Albrecht with a monumental new building for the Gestapo, but they were never realized. Instead, the offices of the Gestapo and SS gradually spread throughout the city.

The buildings at Wilhelmstraße 98–101 were largely destroyed during the Second World War. The site had been cleared by the early 1960s.

Portions of the buildings’ outer walls remain.
