This Summer Will Be Different
In 2024, bestselling Canadian author Carley Fortune added to the long-standing tradition of Island-inspired artistry with her novel This Summer Will Be Different. A story of love. friendship, and belonging, Fortune brings Prince Edward Island to life through vivid descriptions of its unique landscapes, communities, and culture.
To honour this new classic, local artisan woodworker Mel Burke has created this stunning conversation bench to encourage visitors and Islanders alike to take a moment to connect with the Island's beauty, and of course each other.
So take a seat, tell a story, and be inspired by the Island.

We drove to Point Prim Lighthouse, the oldest on the Island.
Of the many, many lighthouses I'd visited over the years, I decided it was my favourite - tall, round, and painted bright white- and that Point Prim was one of PEI'S loveliest spots:
a peninsula of gorgeous farmland jutting into the ocean.
I could live here
I said to Felix."
