The brewpub was founded in 1989. The building was formerly the machine house of the Roser leather factory. It was built in 1922 by architects Paul Bonatz and F. E. Scholer. Its industrial architecture includes elements of the Heimat style and Expressionism, with a stepped brick gable. In 2002, the owner, DIBAG Industriebau AG, restored the building according to historic-preservation standards. It forms a protected historic ensemble with building no. 15.
