The Festival Hall was built in 1911–1912 as a gymnasium and assembly hall. It was designed by architects Paul Bonatz and Friedrich Eugen Scholer with elements of Neoclassicism and Art Nouveau. Wilhelm Weigel created the ornamental painting on the beamed ceiling. In 1912, the hall was used for the large Trade and Industrial Exhibition. It suffered minor damage during the Second World War. From 1980 to 1982, it was renovated and two wings were added. Together with the gate buildings and open grounds, it forms a protected historic ensemble.
