1. Kindergarten St. Josef / St. Joseph Kindergarten Marker

Hier stand die 1895 erbaute „Freiwillige Konfessionsschule“. Matthias Erzberger, später Reichstagsabgeordneter und Minister der Weimarer Republik, arbeitete hier 1896 als Schulamtsverweser. Mitte der 1930er Jahre besuchte diese Grundschule auch Eric Carle, der später als internationaler Kinderbuchautor berühmt wurde. Dieses katholische Schulhaus, inzwischen Brühlschule genannt, wurde 1944 durch Bomben zerstört und später wieder aufgebaut. 1985 erfolgte der Abriss der Schule und danach die Neubebauung.

The “Voluntary Denominational School,” built in 1895, once stood here. Matthias Erzberger, who later became a member of the Reichstag and a minister of the Weimar Republic, worked here as an acting school administrator in 1896. Eric Carle also attended this elementary school during the mid-1930s. He later became an internationally famous children’s book author. The Catholic school building, later called the Brühl School, was destroyed by bombs in 1944 and subsequently rebuilt. The school was demolished in 1985, and the site was then redeveloped.
